Open Diary User manualChallenge:The webmaster at the blogging website OpenDiary.com needed a user manual explaining how to set up a diary on his site, as well as how to maintain it, edit it, and interact with other users on it. Solution: Working in a team with four technical writing students we devised a style sheet and systematically documented each interactive section of the website. Result: The OpenDiary webmaster was pleased to offer this manual to his users. |

Mail merge instructionsChallenge: The staff at The Centre for Child Development needed me to rewrite their mail merge instructions so that even the most computer-challenged employee could understand how to do it. Solution: Break down the procedure into manageable chunks, illustrate difficult steps with screenshots and provide a hands-on tutorial. Instructions were then user tested through observation and interviews. Result: Employees were delighted at the professional presentation of the instructions.
