Microsoft Word Manual

Challenge: Create a word manual that word neophytes can pick up and use instantly.

Solution: Easy-to-follow steps illustrated with relevant screenshots and tip boxes make this brief manual a delight to read.

Result: A colourful manual that keeps it short, simple and targeted at a specific audience.

Open Diary User manual

Challenge:The webmaster at the blogging website OpenDiary.com needed a user manual explaining how to set up a diary on his site, as well as how to maintain it, edit it, and interact with other users on it.

Solution: Working in a team with four technical writing students we devised a style sheet and systematically documented each interactive section of the website.

Result: The OpenDiary webmaster was pleased to offer this manual to his users.

Mail merge instructions

Challenge: The staff at The Centre for Child Development needed me to rewrite their mail merge instructions so that even the most computer-challenged employee could understand how to do it.

Solution: Break down the procedure into manageable chunks, illustrate difficult steps with screenshots and provide a hands-on tutorial. Instructions were then user tested through observation and interviews.

Result: Employees were delighted at the professional presentation of the instructions.
